About Us
In 1998, after 28 years of Rheumatoid Arthritis and countless operations, including 13 total joint replacements, Pat Froomberg had to adapt to life in a wheelchair. As a result, she found it too difficult to continue with her previous business and community commitments. This included public fund-raising for Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC) for which she was honoured with the MBE. She then decided to use her vast experience of going out and about in a wheelchair and trained as a Disability Access Auditor.Since the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 became law in October 2004, Pat has seen, time and time again, that there are many businesses who have disregarded the Act despite the fact that they have had 9 years in total to prepare. They have not made their buildings, facilities or services accessible for those who need them, including the visually impaired, partially deaf people and those with physical disabilities.
For that reason, Pat has created this web site with the purpose of making disabled people aware of the places and facilities they can access easily, as well as those which are impossible or difficult to use. A second benefit from this web site will be to ensure that management takes note of the comments and, hopefully, acts accordingly. As a result of recent efforts, she has already been successful in persuading a major London hotel to install disabled facilities immediately instead of adhering to their intended plan in two years' time.
It is time disabled people spoke up for themselves, and Inaccessible will help them to do so.
